Classes
What classes involve
Classes are tailored to your own wants and needs. You have the option of choosing a stretch and release, twerk stretch and release, creative writing stretch and release or hand balancing stretch and release workshop. We start classes with joint freeing exercises and work up to deep stretches. Classes can be paired with your own music or Jays carefully chosen music that does not include any anti Black, fatphobic or other offensive lyrics or abusers. Jay offers a range of different ability classes, including classes that are for people that want to stay seated, are older or would only like to focus on certain body parts. Jays workshops focus on the connection that rest and release has between our body and spirit, and how that can be a form of resistance. Jay takes students through a restorative process, in which your flow will be unlocked and your higher self actualised. We will commence with breathing exercises, slowly connecting with our surroundings and our environmental responses as we work our way up gradually. Together, our muscles and joints will give us an insight as to their needs, and potential concerns. All poses and movement are optional and a range of different poses for different bodies will be given. We offer a range of classes, or a combination of all of them. The class can involve a trauma informed meditation if you like, the meditation can also be adapted to fit your needs, religion and mental health.

Workshops
OUR STRETCH AND RELEASE COLLABORATIVE WORKSHOPS
Stretch and release
Our sessions start with joint freeing movement and intentional breath work to prepare for our somatic movement. As we enter our deep stretching we practice mindfulness of our own boundaries, bodily functions and feelings and relinquish expectations and pressure. Jay will guide you through the session and finish with affirmations and meditation if requested.
Twerk stretch and release
We will start class with joint freeing movement and gently opening up our hips. We will then explore different twerking movement and how to use it as a source of grounding. As we begin our yoga sequence their will be an option to twerk, engage in different glute isolations and vibrate in certain poses to further release tension. We will finish with some affirmations and meditation if requested.
Creative writing stretch and release
We will begin with stretch and release, focusing on the elements Earth, Water, Fire, Air and Ether. As we do this, we will reflect on our relationship and connection with nature. Afterwards, we will have a relaxing poetry session with Ebony, using the tools we have acquired from yoga and translating it into written craft. Ebony (they/she) is a queer fat Black Dark skinned writer that centres their work around liberation such as fat Black liberation and queer celebration. They are passionate about marginalised groups realising their creative beauty and importance and enjoy working with all different people that want to heal through creative writing.
Hand balancing stretch and release
We will begin the class with a warm up , joint freeing movements and wrist prep with miss Geégeé Georgina (she/her). Miss Geégeé is an international circus artist and instructor, who is passionate about circus skills being accessible to those that are excluded from artistic spaces. After our warm up miss Geégeé will then discuss and teach different balances, with different adaptions to suit very beginner to intermediate practitioners. We will then centre ourselves before entering into deep stretches, focusing on the muscle groups we have just used. We will finish with some gentle stretches, affirmations and meditation if requested.

Discretionary rates for Black and brown lower income folk
We offer sliding scale rates for low income Black and Brown folk who would like to enjoy the benefits of our classes but don’t have the resources to afford them. Please contact us in inquiries if you would like a discounted rate. We want our classes to be accessible to everyone and believe that finances should not be a barrier for people trying to access wellness.
Donations to support Black and brown lower income folk
If you would like to help cover the cost of a stretch and release workshop for a low income Black or Brown person then please go through our inquiries. We urge people with the resources to consider supporting marginalised folk to experience healing and release in a world that dehumanises us.
